How to prep your pool for the cold temperatures

Brrr – the cold has made its way down to Texas and with it brings a whole set of new problems you can run into with your pool.  We know that keeping your pool up and running is a full-time job.  Katy Pool Techs wants to assist you with a few tips and suggestions on ways to transition to the colder temperatures.

Keep your pool warm – ok so how do you do that?  If you have decided to heat your spa or pool to swim in, this product will help you maintain the water temperatures longer.  It acts as a solar blanket.  This product is available at Leslie’s Pool Supply and is called, Leslie’s Cover Weekly- It comes in a 32 oz. bottle ($31.99). It allows you to create a liquid barrier on the surface of your pool.  The liquid uses an advanced mono-layer technology to create a liquid solar blanket that protects against heat loss, decreases the evaporation process, and reduces chemical loss. It can reform its liquid barrier even after there is movement in the water from bathers or outside factors, like the wind.

Protect your pool from extreme cold temperatures – What should you do when the temperatures dip in the 30s?

Katy Pool Techs recommends:
*Running your pool equipment overnight (when temperatures are below 32 degrees).
*If your pool has a freeze protect system, make sure it is on.
*Pool fill-lines should be set to a slow drip to keep water running.
*Maintain proper water level at all times.
      *NEVER backwash during extreme cold.

At Katy Pool Techs our goal is for you to enjoy your investment and keep it running safely and efficiently.  If you need any help we are here for you.  Just call us at 832-788-7665.
